How to use black seed for immune system support

Black seeds have long been used to help with ailments like fever, coughs, chest congestion, and bronchitis. Studies show that black seeds may help support your immune system by making certain immune cells more active and by supporting cells that fight off infections. Ebony adds that they may also be helpful in managing certain allergies like hay fever.

What are the best ways to use black seed for health benefits?

“The main active compound in black seeds is thymoquinone,” says Ebony. “It is most concentrated in the oil extracted from the seeds, making it the preferred method of consumption.

“You can take it directly or combine it with honey,” she says.

Here’s how you can use it at home in two simple steps:

  1. Combine one teaspoon of raw, locally farmed honey with the recommended dosage of black seed oil as per the package instructions.
  2. Mix together in a small bowl, stir until well combined and take this mixture daily to support the immune system.

Ebony emphasises the importance of consulting with a healthcare professional before commencing any new supplements to ensure they are appropriate for your needs.

She adds, “Ensure you use high-quality, pure black seed oil from a reputable source. The quality of the product significantly impacts the benefits you’ll experience.”

Does black seed interact with medication?

Black seeds may affect how certain medications work when taken together, as they may slow down the way the body processes some medications, potentially making them less effective.

It’s a good idea to speak to your healthcare professional if you are taking any medications and have any questions or concerns about their interaction with black seed oil.
